Check out the trailer for my trip to South Africa and visit to Johannesburg, Kruger Park, Cape Town and Durban. The web series will debut April 1 and will take you to Johannesburg, Kruger Park, Cape Town and Durban. Get ready to enjoy this beautiful country because it will surprise you every step of the way
I’m a profession eater and there are two more places I enjoyed dinning in Johannesburg: Carnivore Restaurant and Lucky Bean. Carnivore is an award winning restaurant (Best Traditional Restaurant, Runner-up Restaurant of the Year) and the dramatic entrance consumes you with anticipation with various African animal statues. You can have a photo shoot with everything they have on display from a larger then life Nelson Mandela Statue, Zulu Kingdom thrown and statue of King Shaka Zulu.
In the states we call an impoverished area the hood, in the South Africa they call it an informal settlement. When people hear the word hood or settlement they can be turned off but I find these areas to be the pulse of the world. I enjoy visiting these areas to see how people are living. It is easy to go visit anywhere in the world and live a posh lifestyle but it is always good to connect with those who are less fortunate and share their story.
Inside Carnivore Restaurant in the lobby area they have a larger then life metal statue of Nelson Mandela. The first pump pose is an icon gesture for freedom.
Today was my birthday and my girlfriend kidnapped and surprised me with a wine tasting tour at the World of Wine (WoW) barrel tasting in Temecula Valley. The Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association’s two-day event features 34 participating vineyards sampling their best wines with food pairings. My girlfriend had foresight to find a company that offered a shuttle to drive us to nine of the vineyards on March 4.
These group of kids where wrestling on the concrete across the street from the Mandela House Museum in Soweto. They were a colorful bunch of kids acting silly and performing their rap for money.

Today I was smothered with history and emotions while visiting the Apartheid Museum and Soweto. The Apartheid Museum is a powerful destination documenting the dark past of South Africa. Prior to visiting Johannesburg I researched the history of Apartheid to get an idea of its destructive 50 year administration and even with my prevision I was still shocked.
Origins Centre
You readily here the statement, “you must know where you came from to know where your going” and in Johannesburg you can’t go any further then here. I haven’t been to a museum in years and visiting Origins Centre was right on time.
Three weeks ago I was walking though my apartment and received an email from South Africa Tourism asking if I was interested in joining them on a trip to South Africa to visit Johannesburg, Kruger Park, Cape Town and Durban. Today, I was able to pinch myself when I arrived at Washington Dulles Airport and boarded South Africa Airways flight 208 to Johannesburg.
In a few hours I’m headed home to South Africa, Africa; the motherland. During this life changing journey I’m going to explore SA visiting Johannesbrug, Kruger Park, Cape Town, Durban and much more!
